My mom wanted to make cookies as a favor for our family baby shower. We've never made cookies like this before, so we decided to practice. Which was a good idea. So we made these shortbread cookies with royal icing from scratch. It was fun!
Oh, and I should probably give credit where credit is due. I found the recipes for the cookies and the icing, and the instructions for "flooding" cookies with royal icing at cakejournal.com. I am not a big fan of the shortbread (I like cookies to be sweet, like sugar cookies) so I think we'll substitute that. But there you have it! If you're thinking af braving them on your own, I can tell you, that if I can do it, so can you!!!

SO ADORABLE!!!
You did a great job, they look amazing!
these are precious!! I LOVE them!
Those are super cute!
Very, very cute!!!
OMG, they are so cute! Did they take a long time to cut out and decorate?
It took a lot longer waiting for the royal icing to harder enough to decorate, then any thing else. When we make them for the shower, we're going to bake them on Friday, ice them on saturday, and decorate and serve them on Sunday. Which only commits us to like an hour or so each day. You could do it all in one day, but you'll be really cookied out!
Oh and I'm going to tag your little butt!!
