Weekly Update - 29 Weeks!

How far along? 29 Weeks

Total Weight Gain:

Maternity Clothes? Non stop. Although, I can still get away with pp shirts, as long as they are stretchy and/or one size up (mainly to accomodate future growth though).

Stretch Marks? Still nothing. Either I am the luckiest girl alive, or the vitamin e/baby oil actually works.

Sleep? Never enough. And as the bump grows, sleep gets more and more interesting.

Best Moment This Week: Kenny feeling Webster. He's the first (besides DH).

Movement: Constant almost. Getting stronger now. The bump jumps on its own now!
Food Cravings: Ice Cream.

Gender: Boy!

Labor Signs: Nope.

Belly Button - In or Out? Still just flat. Its actually getting deeper again. Weird.

What I miss: Pants with zippers. :)

What I am looking forward to: Shower #2 Labor Day Sunday!

Weekly Wisdom: No wisdom. That requires energy.

Milestones: Hello, Third trimester! We're in the home stretch!!! Pin It

Thoughts and Prayers Please

Please keep Patty in your thoughts and prayers. She got some discouraging news this morning, and we are hoping she gets her miracle!! Pin It

29 Weeks!

Thanks to your ever-expanding uterus, it's time to welcome back the constant bathroom dashes. And try your best to forget about any emerging varicose veins -- they might be ugly, but they're harmless and should fade after delivery. Until then, avoid standing or sitting for long periods of time and make sure to get some exercise (it'll boost your circulation).

Baby's energy is surging, thanks to white fat depositing beneath his skin. And since he's growing so fast (weight will triple by birth), things are getting kind of cramped in the womb. What all this means for you: Get ready for some more kicks and jabs to the ribs Pin It

Baby Shower #1!

I need to send a huge thanks out to my mom for taking the lead, and getting everything taken care of. There was some confusion in the beginning as to who was hosting, when, where, etc. Thank you so much mom!!!

I had so much fun! We had a pretty good turn out, and I am amazed at how generous everyone was! I was also exhausted, so I totally slacked on the pictures. If you are reading, and you came to the shower, please let me know if you have any photos!

My sister hand-knit a little set for him. And she put peas all over it!!!

She also baked an awesome cake! It was sooo delish, and I ate leftovers for days! This is where I would put a pic, but again, I slack.

We played Baby Shower Bingo, and a neat game my mom made. It works just like memory. I think it went well. I know I had a ton of fun, and it was sooo good to have everyone together!

28 weeks!

Sprung a leak? Those thick, yellow drips (called colostrum), are the precursor to breast milk. Try a pair of cotton breast pads and make sure to change them whenever they get damp to avoid the dreaded chafe. Still milk-free? That's normal too -- some women just don't leak.
Baby's lungs are mature enough that, if born right now, she has a pretty good chance of surviving (with help from medical technology). Her skin is still pretty wrinkly (one byproduct of living in amniotic fluid) but will smoothen as fat continues to deposit.
By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world. Pin It

Glucose Test

I had to take the 1 hour glucose test today.

Surprisingly, not horrible! I didn't mind the drink itself (I had the Fruit Punch), and I didn't get jittery or anything until a few hours later. This I blame on the fact that I ate frosted flakes for breakfast. Not a good idea.

All of my bloodwork is done at a 3rd party lab. So I got there, waited in line (forever!!) and checked in. I made sure to tell the receptionist that I needed the glucose test, so she gave me the drink right there. I had thought ahead, so I had a book. But between calling (ahem harassing) my husband, and various other calls I needed to make, I didn't get much of it read. My hour went much faster than I had expected, and I was soon on my way!

All in all, it really wasn't that bad. Annoying, yes, but certainly not dreadful. Pin It

27 Weeks

Got a sudden pain in your rear? That's just baby, settling into place for his upcoming debut. His head might be pressing on your sciatic nerve, which can cause pain and numbness down the backs of your legs. Don't worry -- it'll ease up soon after labor. For now, your aching back deserves a pat. You've reached trimester three!

Baby's lungs are going through some major developments these days, which (combined with the opening of previously plugged nostrils) means he's now able to practice inhaling and exhaling. The lack of air in your womb means every "breath" is filled with amniotic fluid, but hey -- it's progress.

This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

Weekly Update - 26 Weeks!

How far along? 26 weeks

Total Weight Gain: + 13(+1 this week).

Maternity Clothes? I have officially reached the point of no return on maternity clothes. I ruined my favorite pair of jeans in the process. More on that later.

Stretch Marks? Still nothing!

Sleep? I am tired all the time. I just can't help it.

Best Moment This Week: More baby shower stuff. I love helping to plan things like this!

Movement: Oh yeah! I feel him all the time now. He's active all the time. I can see him moving from the outside I think.

Food Cravings: Still Chocolate. Still Weird.

Gender: BOY!!

Labor Signs: Nothing.

Belly Button In or Out? Is neither an option? It isn't really in or out. Its just flat now.

What I miss: Beer. I could really use a beer. Raw sushi. Mmmm.... sushi.

What am I looking forward to: Ultrasounds! Lisa has hers tomorrow, my sister in laws is this week as well. I can't wait to find out what they are having! Here's girl dust to you both!! Mine is in less than two weeks now. I can't wait to see Webster again! Scott keeps saying he better still have a penis, or our daughter will be wearing a lot of boys clothes in the beginning.

Weekly Wisdom: When you are 6 months pregnant, and trying to wear your (FAVORITE) pre-pregnancy jeans, if they won't fit, they won't fit. No amount of wiggling, jumping or enlisting your poor (laughing) DH will make any difference. And for Pete's sake, do NOT do squats in an attempt to shimmie them higher on your legs. Please just accept that your behind has grown too. Otherwise you may end up with a giant tear from knee to pocket. In your favorite pair of pants. The ones you bought only a month or so before you got pregnant. Because if you DO all those things and ruin your pants, you will end up hysterically crying on the floor at the injustice of it all. I wore them last week! They fit I swear! While your poor (laughing) DH tries (but fails) to console you with a straight face. Because really? Why on earth would you think you could still wear a size 3?

Milestones: Last week of 2nd trimester!

Cupcake Swap! - With Pics!!!!

Yesterday I went to my first cupcake swap! It was so neat, and the cupcakes were all so yummy! The deal was, everyone had to bring 30 cupcakes. Well, over 30 people came, so we had well over 1000 cupcakes! Needless to say, I had some leftovers to share with Scott.

A lot of the Latte girls were there (We missed you Stacey, Lisas and Jamie!). From L to R.

Jaye, Susie, Amber ( also called Ambie), Ashley, ME!, Patty, Katie, Jenni, Kristin (our hostess with the mostess!) and Macy!

We had an absolute blast and the girls spent some time trying to guess Websters real name. It was fun. I have photos of the smorgasborg, but its Sunday, and I'm lazy. I'll get them up later.

I've Been Tagged!

I was tagged by Jenni, so here goes!
My Heart

Here is what you need to do:

The rules: "With as much creativity as you can muster, show your heart in: a picture, a poem, a song (or piece of music), a phrase (or quote), an item of clothing, a place, and (just for fun) a Disney princess. If you want to join in, tag six more blogs!

A Picture:

This is one of my favorite pictures or my husband from our honeymoon. He'll probably kill me for posting it, but whatever. I love you babe! :)

A Poem:

Phenomenal Women by Maya Angelou

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

A Song:

"Free to be Me" Francesca Battistelli

At twenty years of age
I'm still looking for a dream
A war is already waged for my destiny
But You've already won the battle
And You've got great plans for me
Though I can't always see, 'cause...
I got a couple dents in my fender
Got a couple rips in my jeans
Try to fit the pieces together
But perfection is my enemy
And on my own I'm so clumsy
But on Your shoulders I can see
I'm free to be me

When I was just a girl
I thought I had it figured out
See my life will turn out right
And I'll make it here somehow
But things don't always come that easy
And sometimes I would doubt, 'cause...
I got a couple dents in my fender
Got a couple rips in my jeans
Try to fit the pieces together
But perfection is my enemy
And on my own I'm so clumsy
But on Your shoulders I can see
I'm free to be me

And you're free to be you
Sometimes I believe
That I can do anything
Yet other times I think
I've got nothing good to bring
But You look at my heart and you tell me
That I've got all You seek
And it's easy to believe, even though...
I got a couple dents in my fender
Got a couple rips in my jeans
Try to fit the pieces together
But perfection is my enemy
And on my own I'm so clumsy
But on Your shoulders I can see
I'm free to be me
And you're free to be you.

A Quote:

Jer 29:11 (NIV)

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

An Item of Clothing:

This has sort of a double meaning for me. Its my pair of Bloch Gauchos.

After years of dance, I still find that I am most comfortable in some sort of dancewear (or something dance appropriate). I love these pants because they remind me that even though I may not be able to do ballet, that doesn't mean I'm not a dancer.

Now that I'm pregnant, I literally LIVE in these things. You know how your wardrobe is such a vital part of who you are? You have your favorite things. Your stand by pair of jeans that just fit so perfectly, that t-shirt you wear AT LEAST once a week cause you love it so much. Well, none of these things fit me now. While I am thrilled to be pregnant, and I can't wait (although I will, at least 10-12 more weeks!) until Webster gets here, my body is different. It's kinda like its not mine. So I can no longer wear the key pieces that make my wardrobe mine. Except my Bloch Gauchos. They are helping to remind me of me.

A Place:

This is another one from our honeymoon. Grand Cayman Island. I want to go back. This was the most beautiful beach I have ever been on in my life.

A Disney Princess:

I'm not a Disney fan. So I don't really identify with any of the Disney Princesses. But, since I have to pick, I choose Meg. She didn't simper at anyone.

I forgot to tag people! I tag: Samantha, Jamie, Nicole, Leigh, Alyssa and... ERIN!!! There you are ladies!

Mmmm.... cookies!

My mom wanted to make cookies as a favor for our family baby shower. We've never made cookies like this before, so we decided to practice. Which was a good idea. So we made these shortbread cookies with royal icing from scratch. It was fun!

Oh, and I should probably give credit where credit is due. I found the recipes for the cookies and the icing, and the instructions for "flooding" cookies with royal icing at cakejournal.com. I am not a big fan of the shortbread (I like cookies to be sweet, like sugar cookies) so I think we'll substitute that. But there you have it! If you're thinking af braving them on your own, I can tell you, that if I can do it, so can you!!!

A note about being 26 weeks.

This is my last week in the 2nd Trimester.

We have LESS than 100 days until D-Day (Due Day).

26 Weeks!

Don't panic if your uterus suddenly starts tightening and relaxing -- Braxton Hicks contractions often begin around this time. They're simply your body's way of practicing and preparing for labor. (If the contractions are regular or particularly painful, call your doc just to be sure it's not the real thing.)

Baby's soaking up your antibodies, getting her immune system ready for life outside the womb. Eyes are forming, and she'll soon be practicing the blink...perfect for batting those freshly grown lashes.

The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel. If you're having a boy, his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take about two to three days. Pin It

Weekly Update - 25 Weeks - Now with PICS!

How far along? 25weeks

Total Weight Gain: + 12 (-1 this week).

Maternity Clothes? No change. I have actually discovered a new way to wear my Bella Band (all the way up like a maternity panel instead of folded at the top of my pants), so I'm back in pre-pg jeans! lol. I wonder how long I'll be able to get away with this. :)

Stretch Marks? Still nothing! I can feel an increase in dryness and itchiness. So I'm continuing the cocoa butter. Hopefully I will at least survive the summer!

Sleep? I'm still pretty tired most of the time. Not getting up in the middle of the night as much. Sleeping deeper too I think. I am sleeping way later as well. No more just waking up at 6 am for me!

Best Moment This Week: More baby shower stuff. I love helping to plan things like this!

Movement: Oh yeah! I feel him all the time now. He's active all the time. He kicked so hard he almost knocked my ice cream off my shelf... I mean bump. :) I think I am starting to be able to see them from the outside.

Food Cravings: Still Chocolate. Still Weird.

Gender: BOY!!

Labor Signs: Nothing.

Belly Button In or Out? Still in. Gets flatter as the day goes on.

What I miss: Beer. I could really use a beer. Raw sushi. Mmmm.... sushi.

What am I looking forward to: Next ultrasound!

Weekly Wisdom: When people talk to you about pregnancy, they don't always tell you the more unfortunate parts. For example, I have always had a thin athletic build. Don't get too mad, I worked my ass off doing years of ballet. I earned that body. Now, however, is an entirely different story. Don't get me wrong, I know I need to gain weight, and I am happy to do it. I actually like seeing the different changes my body is going through as my pregnancy goes on. What I am not happy about (the part no one told me) is the back fat. That's right ladies. I have fat where there was no fat before. Dance kept my back very toned apparently. Not anymore. I think that is the part I am most concerned with post partum. Getting THE REST OF ME back to normal. I've started noticing other people who don't have back fat, and I'm getting jealous. lol

Milestones: Viability!!!
