Weekly Update - Week 16

How far along? 16 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: +3.6 total (+1.4 this week)
Maternity Clothes? I got an awesome deal for work clothes. I plan to start wearing them on Monday! Although, I still don't think I really need them. I was down to two pairs of pants that worked with the bella band.

Stretch Marks? Not yet! I have continued the nightly ritual of slathering on a mix of Vitamin E and baby oil. Hopefully, it does the trick but only time will tell!

Sleep? Yes, Please! I'm still consistently tired all day.

Best moment this week: Shopping for maternity clothes!
Movement? I've been trying to pay more attention, but I still think nothing yet. I've heard that early movement can feel like an eye twitch, only not in your eye. I felt that yesterday, but I'm not calling it movement. It really could have been a muscle twitch.

Food Cravings: Soft serve ice cream, specifically swirl cones. I could eat it every day.

Gender: This week I'm feeling boy!

Labor Signs: nothing
Belly Button in or out? In.
What I miss: BEER!

What I am looking forward to: Ultrasound! Less than 2 weeks to go!
Weekly Wisdom: There is no place like home.

Milestones: A stranger asked when I was due! She was friends with my friend, so I'm sure she didn't just guess that I'm pregnant. But still. I had no idea who she was.

I broke down this week

and bought some maternity clothes. my mom and I went to Ross, and kicked total butt! I got:

4 pairs of dress pants
1 tank top
7 work shirts

That is a total of 12 items.
Would you like to know how much I spent?

First, I should tell you that a few weeks ago I stopped in at Motherhood Maternity for a swimsuit for our trip. I found a few items, ON CLEARANCE (which, by the way is one of my favorite words) so I picked them up. I got a super cute tankini, a dress that will go great for work this summer, a maternity suit jacket and a pair of secret fit jeans. I will repeat, it was all on clearance. That trip cost right around $125. So just to reiterate, Motherhood Maternity, 4 items, $125.

Ready for the comparison? Ok, I'll spill.

One trip to Ross, 12 things, $110, after tax. Thats right. I rule. Pin It

We got it!

I officially have a stroller, a car seat and an extra base for Scott! Whoo-hoo!!!! Pin It

Decided!

I think that we have made our decision!

We are going with the Graco Quattro Tour in Bombay.
After work I'm going to take my mom to the local BRU and take it for a "test drive" of sorts. I want to feel the material, and make sure it fits in my car.
There is a matching carseat, but they are not available as a travel system in this color. So I'll buy them separately. Which is fine. Especially now since they have a special at BRU that if you buy both, they'll take $75 off!
I have heard that this carseat is a little longer than most, and some people have trouble with it fitting in their vehicles. I want to see if we can put it in mine before we buy it.
So, if they can offer us the same deal in store, and they have all the pieces in stock, I may purchase our "travel system" today!!! SQUEEEE!!! The $75 off actully makes it cheaper than buying the same set prepackaged!

16 Weeks

Watch what you say... tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up your voice. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming. And, if you're interested, an ultrasound might be able to determine gender.

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions

So we found out yesterday, that my fabulous mother in law wants to buy our stroller for us! Thanks so much Jan!

However, now I don't know which one I want. I had my heart set on the Graco Quattro Tour Deluxe.
But over the last couple of days, I have been eyeing the Chicco Cortina KeyFit30
.
They each have their benefits/drawbacks (the Graco is much heavier, but the Chicco won't snap into a shopping cart) and they are very similar pricewise.
Any thoughts?

Recovery

I discovered this morning that there is such a thing as a sympathy hangover. I had not one drop of alcohol, but my body feels otherwise. I have what I will call a pregnancy hangover. This is what happens when you keep a pregnant lady out til after 3 am, feed her crappy bar food, and not supply sufficient water. Blech.

However, last night was awesome! We had a rockin time! Everyone (including sober me) ended up on the bar. I had my first Non-Alcoholic beer (which, surprisingly tasted exactly like Bud Light), and later the girls started buying me "shots" of Sprite, so that I could at least cheers with them, even if I couldn't drink with them. Our bartender, Nate, was such an awesome sport. He was playing right along, and didn't cut any one off! Even when we all got on the bar.

We started out bowling. I threw 3 strikes! Unfortunately, one was on Colleen's turn, so I don't have proof. I took a picture of the score card (please note my final score) to document my awesome bowling skills.

Thats right. A whopping 56. Its unbelievable.

And a picture that sort of sums up my portion of the evening.

Aaaah. Near beer through a straw. A penis straw, of course.

We took so many other more awesome photos, but this is when my camera died... So I'll do another post when I get pics from Donna.

Life is good

I am sitting here in the hotel with the window open. I can hear a lawn mower down the street, and there is a hint of a breeze. I ran down and got some quick stuff from the continental breakfast, and it hit the spot. I love Frosted Flakes! Scott is still sleeping, so I'm taking advantage of the quiet time to catch up on the blogroll. I am very much looking forward to the spa today. I can just picture it now.

All in all, everything seems very peaceful. Pin It

We made it!

We are here, safe and sound. It has been an incredibly long day for us, and I am running very low on energy. I thought the exhaustion was supposed to end when you got to 2nd tri?

We had a layover in Minneapolis, so we met my Aunt Lynn for lunch. It was great to see her, and I'm glad we were able to make it work.

Once we landed in Appleton, Matt took us to go get checked in to out hotel . So far we are unimpressed, but it really isn't all that bad. Then we met with Donna and her friends for chinese buffet. Yum!!!

Now, I am fighting to keep my eyes open! Tomorrow we hit the spa. I am soooooo excited! I really cannot even tell you how much I have been looking forward to this. Pin It

And We're Off!

We are just finishing up the last minor packing to head out to Wisconsin! I am so excited!!! I need a vacation. Gotta go! Out ride is here! Pin It

15 weeks!

Continuing the march towards normal proportions, baby's legs now outmeasure the arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. Your fetus is squirming and wiggling like crazy down in the womb, though you probably still can't feel the movements. Pin It

And the word is:

Risk for Downs and Trisonomy 13,18 - 1 in 10,000! YAY!

Meatballs heartrate: 158 bpm

This was my first encounter with the Doppler. I have always said that I wouldn't buy a home doppler. I know that if for some reason I wasn't able to find the heartbeat one day I would seriously freak out. Today's dr appointment cemented that decision. The nurse was having trouble finding the heartbeat. She did, eventually, but I know that if that had happened to me at home bymyself, I would have freaked out!

Next Appointment/Ultrasound: Friday June 12th. Vote now!!! Pin It

Dr Appt Today!

No ultrasound, though. However, I will schedule my next appt today! You know, the one where we find out if its a boy or a girl? Yeah, I'll have a date for that one!!! I'll be adjusting the gender poll to reflect a new deadline! So get your votes in while you can! Pin It

14 Weeks

Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, and (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over the body for warmth.

100th Post!

For real this time. :)

Happy Mothers Day!

I called today my "First Unofficial Mother's Day". The hubs and I went to the early morning showing of the new Star Trek with my family. Can I just say that movie was incredible?! It was soo good, I want to see it again already! After the movie we headed out to lunch.

Scott told me that for my Mothers Day present, I can have my diaper bag! This is very exciting news! Now I just need to choose which one I want. I know I want the Ju Ju Be BeTween, but I can't decide on a color! What do you think?

Here's the bag...

And here are the colors I like...

Cinnamon Champagne
Sienna Swirl:
Cherry Lemonade:

Citrus Sorbet: Pin It

13 Weeks

Your fetus is forming teeth and vocal cords... savor this, their non-functional phase. Baby is approaching normal proportions, with a head now only one third the size of the body. Intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to baby's tummy. (Much more convenient.)

The Peri Called

With our NT Scan results. I guess (for the sake of accuracy) I should be more clear. I got a message to call and retrieve a message from the peri. Moving on.

Our results came back normal! We have a very low chance of Downs or Trisonomy 18/13! Yay!

No numbers yet, I expect those from my dr on the 18th. Pin It
