38 Week Appointment Recap

Last night my BHs went from annoying to painful. Which to me means contractions, not BHs. Anyway, I am officially an idiot, and can't time ctx for the life of me. I didn't want to wake Scott, as if this was nothing, he needed to leave the house at 4:30am for work. Because of my fibro, I tolerate pain differently. So I was able to sleep through them. When they didn't stop when it was time for him to get up for the day, I told him I was having painful and consistent ctx all night, but I don't know about a pattern. So we both stayed home from work to see where this would lead us.

I had a drs appt scheduled for the end of the day, but I called and had it moved to earlier. Ctx were still painful, and still no pattern I could see.

She did an internal at my appt and I am 2-3 cm! Yeah! She said that my cervix is almost completely thinned, and my random contractions were doing their job! His head is very low, and she could feel my water "bulging". She also stripped my membranes. The internal wasn't painful, not comfortable either, but certainly no worse than a pap. The membranse stripping was another story. Holey buckets that hurt. As I was warned, my contractions/cramping have increased considerably. Like now they are nonstop. I told Scott that if this is what I'm going to be feeling until Webster comes, he better come fast lol. There is no way I can handle this for an extended period of time.

So thats where we are. We plan to do everything we can to help move things along from here. Because I assure you, contractions do hurt. Pin It

Websters Name - Take 2

Hint #2:

His name is (in an abstract, roundabout, not really, but I can prove it anyway) a combination of our names.

Happy guessing! Pin It

Looking Back... Again.

So, I was talking with my boss today, and she commented that she didn't know what I looked like, not pregnant. It got me thinking about how far we have come in the last nine months or so.

(And yes, I know we just did this, but I'm bigger now. So deal. :))

So here I am, 1 month pregnant.

And again, at 9 months pregnant.

Totally Surreal

I mentioned in my weekly update that we are full term, and that my BH are getting stronger.

Now that we have reached this point, I'm pretty much just ready.

The surreal part is I have never looked forward to or felt so much anticipation about pain. Weird. Pin It

Weekly Update - 37 Weeks

How far along? 37 Weeks

Total Weight Gain: 30 lbs (+0 this week) I wonder if this means my weight gain will finally level out? Do you think it means we're almost ready for labor?

Maternity Clothes? Everyday! Also, I have a fear that I have outgrown my bra. For the THIRD time this pregnancy. What comes after DD?

Stretch Marks? The two (on my bum!!) have made a new friend. I tried to tell them that they were moving into a party-free area, but they don't listen!

Sleep? Ah. Sleep. I feel like I never get enough. I am always tired. I've scaled back the night wakings to every 3 hours or so instead of two. Its nice. I try to look at it as practice for the next few months.

Best Moment This Week: Reaching full term!

Movement: Has slowed considerably. I know its cause he's running out of room, but I don't like it.

Food Cravings: Pumpkin everything. I woke up and baked a dozen mini-loaves of pumpkin bread this morning. Yum!

Gender: Boy!

Labor Signs: The Braxton Hicks are getting considerably stronger, and becoming uncomfortable. It's to a point that I'm not sure they're even BH anymore. Do contractions have to hurt?

Belly Button - In or Out? Still just flat. Leaning more towards in than out at this point.

What I miss: Beer. I want a beer. I almost cried the other night when I woke up still pregnant because I want a beer so bad.

What I am looking forward to: My birthday! The countdown has officially started! 5 days to go!

Weekly Wisdom: I really wish I had more wit for this section. It's always pretty boring.

Milestones: Full-Term! Yay!!!

Mmmm..... dinner!

Tonight we maded pork katsu; one of my favorite Japanese dishes.

You can find the recipe here to make your own. Its a pork egg and onion dish. I love it!

Our version tonight was good, but it was definately not "right". So if you use the recipe linked above, read all the instructions FIRST and follow them! We jumped around, and it didn't really work. Still delish, but it could've been better! Pin It

Group B Strep

I just got confirmation from the nurses that I am GBS Negative!

My Dr. didn't mention it yesterday, so I assumed that was the case, but its nice to know for sure. So I don't have to worry about getting the anitbiotics prior to delivery. Pin It

37 Week Dr. Appt

BP- 120/70 (I think she said 70) which is actually high for me.
Websters heartrate - 133
Weight - Up. lol thats all they told me.
Fundal Height - 38 (wowzas! thats a little bigger than I was expecting, but it explains why I keep bumping the belly into things)

Well, everything went well. I got a referral for physical therapy for my back pain (yay!!) and we made a new appointment for next week. I've chosen not to have any internals until 39 to 40 weeks, unless medically necessary, so no updates on my cervix.

Its a little surreal to me. We're now full term, but this appointment was no different than the last ones. We'll see where we go from here! Pin It

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

Wow. Full Term.

Can I admit here that I am scared to death?

Because I am.

I am so freaked out I literally cannot explain it any better than "oh.... shit". Please pardon my language.

For the better part of the last two years, all I have been able to think about is expanding our family. Having children has always been a top priority for me. My entire life I've just wanted to be a mom. Whatever else I was doing, if I was a mom I'd be ok. I've wanted this more than (almost) anything else in the whole world.

Well, here we are. Oh shit.

I wish that I could communicate the way that I am feeling better. I think it may be similar to going off to college. A combination of everything you've ever wanted and a healthy dose of what have I gotten myself into. The past year (well, really a year and a half) has been pretty darn focused on babies. But more in a very abstract way. I have never had a baby. I have only recently even HELD a new born, and if I'm being quite honest, I have no idea what I'm doing. And this scares the crap out of me. Add in the fact that in a short while, I have to figure out how to get him OUT of me and

Oh shit.

I am terrified. Terrified of labor sure. But that is a fleeting challenge. I don't doubt that it will be exhausting, grueling, painful and frustrating. But it will also be short lived. The parenting part, thats what gets me. The fact that this little person will be relying on me for everything he needs for the next, oh I don't know, 18 to 20 years scares me to death. What if I can't stop him from crying? What if I can't feed him? What if I drop him? What do I do if he turns into one of those kicking biting swearing hellions like you see on SuperNanny? What if I end up with that kid?! I don't know how to do this!!! The choices we make as parents will shape the rest of his life.

How did I think I was ready to do this?

Oh shit. Pin It

The Poll is now closed!

According to you faithful readers, Webster will make his debut sometime in the 39th week, so 2 more to go!

Although, I take the results with a grain of salt since you guys all thought he was going to be a girl! :)

Thank you for voting!! Pin It

37 Weeks!! We've made it to full term!

Today brings two beautiful words: full-term. Now, whenever baby's born, he's likely to thrive. Also thriving? Your nesting instincts, which are behind those sudden urges to bake, clean, or embroider a onesie. (Feminists, take your issue up with nature, not with us.)
Your full-term (yay!) baby is gaining about 1/2 ounce a day and getting his first sticky poop (called meconium) ready. He's also brushing up on skills for the outside world: blinking, sucking, inhaling, exhaling, and gripping (it's getting strong!).

Congratulations — your baby is full term! This means that if your baby arrives now, his lungs should be fully mature and ready to adjust to life outside the womb, even though your due date is still three weeks away.Your baby weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (like a stalk of Swiss chard). Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long. But don't be surprised if your baby's hair isn't the same color as yours. Dark-haired couples are sometimes thrown for a loop when their children come out as blonds or redheads, and fair-haired couples have been surprised by Elvis look-alikes. And then, of course, some babies sport only peach fuzz.

Websters Name

I decided that I should give you a hint. We've heard that a few people have been guessing, and somehow, you're all coming up with the same names!

The most common guess I've heard is Patrick. For a couple of reasons, I imagine. It's Scotts middle name, and it starts with "P". But, alas, it is not Patrick.

So, there's your first hint.

His name is not Patrick.

Nor does it start with a P. :) Pin It

Weekly Update - 36 Weeks!

I added the new photo, since the one from this morning is really a half picture, and I want to have accurate documentation.

How far along? 36 Weeks

Total Weight Gain: 30 lbs (+3 this week) I am seriously blaming this on water weight. There is no other explanation. Especially when you consider the state of my ankles. Oh, and I have to note that I saw my Dr this week (not the evil NP) and she didn't say a word about my gain. So ha! on you, Evil Nurse.

Maternity Clothes? Everyday! Somehow I have managed to still be able to wear tops from the Juniors section, just in one size up. I bought 3 new t-shirts, 2 new tank tops and a top from the Jr's section aat Kohls this week. I think they'll be good for the transition period between pregnant and pre-pregnant size.

Stretch Marks? No change. Still giving the two (on my bum!!) the side eye, and the one I am convinced is going to be a stretchie on my boob is still in hiding. Thank goodness.

Sleep? Ah. Sleep. I feel like I never get enough. I am always tired. But the reality of the situation is that I cannot possibly sleep any more than I do. I am literally in bed around 8:30 every night (9 ish on the weekends) and I sleep until the very last moment in the mornings. Plus, I am officially up every two hours to pee.

Best Moment This Week: Dancing on the bar. :)

Movement: He has sleep and awake patterns, and the sleep ones make me nervous. I feel better when he's moving all the time.

Food Cravings: Meatloaf. Mashed potatoes. Pumpkin everything.

Gender: Boy!

Labor Signs: Nope. Although I have started noticing the Braxton Hicks. Nothing consistent, not even daily, but they are there!

Belly Button - In or Out? Still just flat.

What I miss: Beer. I want a beer. Standing up unassisted.

What I am looking forward to: So close to full term.

Weekly Wisdom: I really wish I had more wit for this section. It's always pretty boring.

Milestones: Webster is head down, and we have reached the point where if labor begins, they won't stop it!

Goal # 24 - Slow Dance with Scott

#1 - 10/16/2009 - Danced at Todd and Colleens wedding.

101 in 1001 - Goal #15 COMPLETE

Goal #15 - Try 10 new restaurants (7/10) I will update this post as we go to more restaurants, and link back to it as we go along!

#1 - 10/16/2009 Market Bistro
We went to Market Bistro on Thunderbird for lunch before the wedding. It was ok. The food was geared toward the fancy side which is not really my style. I prefer simpler sandwiches, and I've never liked them hot. That being said, service here was EXCELLENT! The staff was friendly and accomodating. They took my request for an off the menu sandwich in stride, and didn't even hesitate!

All in all, I probably won't eat there again, but if you like that style of food then you should definately check it out!!!

#2 - 11/18/09 Buffalo Wild Wings

I met Lisa for lunch today, and I told her to choose where to eat, so that I would branch out from my (very delicious) routine of sandwiches, sushi, Sauce (lather, rinse, repeat). She picked Buffalo Wild Wings since she hadn't been there either! It was super yummy! They had so many wing sauces to choose from, and they even let us taste a few (ok, a bunch) before deciding. I am a wuss, so I went with the mild (which still had some kick!) and Lisa got the medium. We also had them bring a side of the spicy garlic as well. Yum yum!
I actually really liked it there. Our server was great, no one looked twice when I nursed Webster (under my hooter hider, of course) and the food was perfect! I'll be going again for sure!

#3 - 12/07/09 San Gabriel Mexican Cafe

Scott and I went to San Gabriels for lunch. It was almost completely empty! We were surprised. The chips and salsa were yum yum!! Service was a little slow, especially since there were only like 3 tables, and I asked for a straw for my drink and ended up getting it myself. Scott got the chicken fajitas (his go-to choice when we eat Mexican) and liked them, and I got a chicken chimichanga (enchilada style). I was not 1000% happy with my chimi, but that has more to do with me being picky (I don't like tomatoes, and the chimi was full of them) than the quality of the food. Overall, everyone was very nice, but I don't think I'll go there again.

#4 - 12/12/09 Delux Burger

I went to lunch with Lisa again today, and we tried Delux Burger. It was fabulous! I highly recommend this place. It is a little on the pricier side (my Burger was $9.50, and didn't come with fries) but it was totally worth it! The best part, was the fries. You order them "a la cart" and they come with this AWESOME sauce. Casey (our wonderful waiter) said it was made of mayo, sour cream, garlic, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt and black pepper. It was so good we put it on our burgers! And our fries literally came A la Cart!! How fun!

#5 03/19/10 On The Border

Scott and I went to On The Border to ccelebrate our anniversary. It was good! We eat a lot of Mexican food, but we were impressed with the chips and salsa, but especially the service. We brought Wyatt with us, ane everyone was super accomodating! I had carne asade tacos (a craving left over from our trip to Mexico!) and was pleasantly surprised at how authentic they seemed. I also had a ridiculously good margarita with sangria drizzled on top. I was punchy from just one. Yum!!

#6 03/27/10 Weinerschitzel

I went with Colleen to Weinerschnitzel  and it was actually really good! Its similar to DQ in both menu and atmosphere. I ordered a chicken corn dog, and it was great! I would def go there again if I was in the area and needed a quick meal.

#7 04/03/10 Sushi Roku - Las Vegas

While in Vegas, we wanted to get dressed up and have a nice dinner. Following the recomendation of Jamie and her husband, we headed to the forum shops at Ceasars Palace for Sushi Roku. It was fab! I'm a HUGE sushi fan, as you probably know, so I wanted to try something that was more unique to the restaurant. I had the Katana roll (tuna, yellowtail, spicy tuna and shrimp tempura) which was amazing! There is a Sushi Roku in Scottsdale, so you don't have to go all the way to Vegas for good sushi! My only complaints would be the price (dinner for 4 was over $150) and the lack of selection for beer (the only light beer they carried was Amstel Light or Kirin Light).

#8 04/09/10 City Market - Biltmore

Today was the grand opening of City Market a the Esplanade. My office is literally in the same building, so we were very excited for it to open! And we were not disappointed! My sandwich was delish! The prices are comparable to Paradise Bakery (sandwich, side and soda was $8.99) but the portion was bigger. Hello leftovers! They also have wraps, salads, breakfast and burgers! Yum!

#9 05/02/2010 Five Guys - Paradise Valley

I went to lunch with Lisa (I seem to do that pretty often, half of my new restaurants were with her!) and we headed to Five Guys for some burgers and fries. Delish! I highly suggest you give them a try!

#10 (date unknown) - Tokyo Lobby Sushi

It seems fiiting that I should end this on a lunch with Lisa! We went to Tokyo Lobby  and it has become my absolute favorite sushi place! My favorite roll is the orgasm, and I don't want to ruin the fun. Just take my word for it, and go get one!

Congrats to the happy couple!

Todd and Colleen had a beautiful wedding! I only have a few photos since I was an idiot and left my camera in the car for most of the evening. But heres what I do have! I'll add more as I get them from the other bridesmaids.

This was the last song of my night. I'm sure the party continued, but I had spent too much time on feet already (dancing away!) and it was time to go home.

The colors and decor was beautiful! Colleen did an awesome job! She used a fall theme of oranges, reds and browns.

And this is my souvenier. Say hello to my cankles. My feet have never been so swollen. They look much better this morning, but holy cow I couldn't believe it!

Honest Feelings.

I try really hard not to complain about the standard pregnancy aches, pains and ailments. I have been extremely lucky with this pregnancy, and I can only hope that our future ones will be this easy.

That being said, it isn't reality. The last few weeks (32 weeks and on, if I had to guess) have been increasingly uncomfortable. And it wouldn't be an honest recounting of this journey if I leave it out. So here's my (hopefully) one and only complaint post.

My back hurts.

I am always tired. I can't get comfortable when I sleep, so I don't sleep very well.

My nose hurts when I breathe. Like if you're somewhere really cold (sledding for instance) and the air is really thin, and you take a deep breath in through your nose, it hurts. My nose hurts like that all the time.

My back hurts. It hurts no matter if I am sitting, standing, laying down. The only time it doesn't hurt is when I'm sitting on a yoga ball. Unfortunately, I can't take a yoga ball everywhere I go.

My stomach hurts. Webster has moved into a head down position (yeah!!) but his little behind is still pressing up into my sternum. Which is never comfortable. It hurts with a bra, without a bra, in a tank top with a shelf bra, in an overside t-shirt, no matter what I wear, it hurts. Some things are worse than others, such as my strapless bra, but it is pretty unrelenting. Also, there is a spot about the size of a dime just to the left of my belly button that hurts. No idea why, it just hurts.

I can't stop eating. I get full after like 6 bites, but I'm starving again in less than an hour. Because of this, I am gaining weight (duh! I'm pregnant! thats what supposed to happen). Recently, the weight gain has made me feel like a cow.

I feel like a fat cow. I have gotten to a point that I'm starting to gain water weight. I have tree trunk thighs, nothing I own will fit. Nothing. I am to a point where all of my clothes are either maternity or purchased in a larger size. My bum is almost deserving of its own zip code.

I constantly feel like I am DYING OF THIRST. I fill by 32 oz water bottle 5-6 times a day, and thats just the water. I cannot get enough.

Since Webster has migrated to head down, he is making himself comfortable. Which, if the pain is any indication, involves fluffing my cervix like a feather pillow. Ouch. Just ouch.

Lets talk about peeing. I am literally up every 2 hours on the dot at night. I look at it as practice for night feedings. But that doesn't make it anyless annoying. During the day its closer to every half hour or so. I have to make sure to pee right before I leave somewhere, and I need to go again as soon as I get where I'm going. And peeing at the doctor. Yesterday was the first time in I don't know how long that I managed to get all the pee into the little cup. I was very impressed!

I am starting to swell. My rings won't fit anymore, and I've been eyeing my ankles. I *think* they are starting to swell, but not drastically. But I miss my wedding ring the most.

Oh, and did I mention that my back hurts? Cause it does. Pin It

Bachelorette Party Recap!

We started the evening at Colleens, getting ready.

Here are the main cast of characters. From L to R Andrea, Nicole, Suzie and Colleen. I am obviously behind the camera. :)

Then we went to dinner at WestGate, and the girls got started with Margaritas! I was sooo jealous!

After dinner we headed out to the bars.
We went to McFaddens first, and while we waited in line to get carded, we were approached by the head of their promotions team. We was very excited that we chose McFaddens for her bachelorette party, and ended up being a big part of our evening. I wish I had caught his name. We'll call him Jimmy, for lack of a better option (and I think Jimmy McFadden has a nice ring to it).
While at the bar, we had a stack of dares for Colleen to complete. The first card she picked was "Get a guy to sing to you". Meet Jimmy. This was during her Serenade.
Her next dare card was "Ask a group of guys which celebrity ass you have".
They told her Paris Hilton at first, and when she argued it, they changed their answer to Megan Fox. lol The gentleman in the red shirt also told me later on that I would be ok if my water broke in the bar, because his sister is studying to be a gynocologist, so he would make sure I was ok. I think they were enjoying their drinks. :)
Another dare had something to with getting money from a stranger.
The next card she pulled said "Get your photo taken on the bar". We enlisted Jimmy for help yet again, and he was happy to oblige!
But wait, whats this? Who is up there with her?
Why its me and Suzie! You know, pregnant or not, I can never pass up an opportunity to dance on the bar!
Well, shortly after this we decided it was time to say good-bye to Jimmy McFadden, and see what else Westgate had to offer. But we officially survived the first installment of the night.
We headed across the promenade to Saddle Ranch, where we completed the evening with Bull Riding! Nicole had never ridden a bull before, so we made her go first.
Andrea was happy to follow suit.

Suzie played too, but at this point the batteries in my camera died, so I have no evidence.

All in all, it was a fun night. I stayed up way too late, and didn't drink enough water. So I felt pretty hung over this morning.

There are a few similarities between this party and the last one I went to. The hangover only being one of them.

Drs Appointment Today!

I had my 36 week check up today. Pretty much the usual.

Good news is our Webster is now head down! Yay!

His heartbeat was 143, and my blood pressure was 90 over 60. So everything looks good!

I also talked to my Dr about delaying the internals until the very end, or until they need to check for medical reasons. I don't want to get myself all worked up over being Xcm dilated, or "lack of progress". She was very willing to work with me! Pin It

I did it!

I made it! Its almost 230 and I just got home. Time for bed, but pictures and video tomorrow!!! Pin It

36 Weeks!

Baby should soon descend into your pelvis, which will give your lungs a little room to breathe (literally). The bad news: This puts the brunt of baby's weight on your hips and pelvis, and will make them pretty sore. Add in your ever-loosening ligaments, and you may soon be taking on that oh-so-adorable pregnancy waddle.

Baby's skin is getting smooth and soft, her gums are rigid, her liver and kidneys are in working order, and her circulation and immune system are basically good to go. Her lungs are the only organs that still need to fully mature, but every day she gets a little closer to breathing on her own.

Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement.

At the end of this week, your baby will be considered full-term. (Full-term is 37 to 42 weeks; babies born before 37 weeks are pre-term and those born after 42 are post-term.) Most likely she's in a head-down position. But if she isn't, your practitioner may suggest scheduling an "external cephalic version," which is a fancy way of saying she'll try to coax your baby into a head-down position by manipulating her from the outside of your belly.

And a more personal 36 week milestone, as of today, my Drs will not stop it if I go into labor on my own.

Cloth Diapers

A friend of mine recently inquired as to what type of cloth diaper we plan on using. So it has inspired a post! Mainly because my facebook isn't updating to my blackberry, so I can't write you back. :)

I cannot claim to be an expert on CDing (especially since our son hasn't even arrived yet!), but I can tell you what the experts do say, and show you where to get more info! I took the following info from pinstripesandpolkadots.com a leading supplier of cloth diapers.

Different Diaper Types:
Flat Diapers - flat diapers are large squares or rectangles of fabric that are folded up and used for diapering. Not in common use today but recommended for camping or international travel where hand washing and line drying may be required.

Prefold Diapers - Rectangular diapers that require less folding than flat diapers. Diapers come in various sizes to fit from newborn to toddler. Diapers can be folded in many ways to meet varying needs.

Fitted Diapers - Rectangular diapers that require less folding than flat diapers. Diapers come in various sizes to fit from newborn to toddler. Diapers can be folded in many ways to meet varying needs.

Pocket Diapers - pocket diapers are designed to be trim, easy to use diapers without sacrificing washability or extending drying time. Diapers are made with a stay dry interior fabric and a waterproof outer fabric. The two layers form a pocket that an absorbent pad can be placed into. Slide the absorbent pad into the diaper, for a quick and easy to use diaper.

All-in-Two (AI2) Diapers - AI2 diapers are designed to be easy to use diapers without sacrificing washability or extending drying time. Diapers are designed with shells and soakers. Soakers can be exchanged with shells throughout the day so more soakers are needed than shells.

All-in-One (AIO) Diapers - all in one diapers are a one piece diaper solution. No pieces to put together. Wash and dry all as one piece.

One-Size (OS) Diapers - one-size diapers merge the convenience of a designed diaper with economics.

There are pros and cons to each of these types of diapers and if you ask around to CDing moms, everyone will have their own favorite. There really isn't a wrong choice.

After doing some research and thinking about what was most important to us (drying time vs price vs convienience etc) we decided on the One Size All-In-One Organics by Bum Genius.

We loved the ease of these diapers (work just like a traditional disposable, velcro and all!), the organic material is a nice touch, and we (theoretically of course) will never have to buy another diaper, since they grow with the baby from 10 - 35 pounds. At which point he hope that Webster will be potty training. We have just over 30 diapers in our "stash" in 4 or 5 different colors.

One of the more common gripes about these diapers is the drying time. Since all the layers are built right in (and so absorbent) they take longer in the dryer than the other diaper types. While a quick drying time would be nice, we don't have anything to compare them to, so it doesn't bother us!

Once we have actually used them, I'll be sure and keep you posted! Also, this blog has much more info, from a mom who actually has a baby! Please let me know if you have any questions, and I'll do my best to answer! Pin It

101 in 1001 - Goal #63 Completed!

#63 - Buy a new mattress for our bedroom

Scott and I went to Mattress Firm last night and picked out our new mattress! Ours was def getting old and it was just time.

I was pretty pleased with the level of service we received there. The sales woman was very nice, and not very pushy. She had us lay on this mattress that figures out how your weight is distributed, and recommends a comfort level of Pillowtop, Firm or Plush (soft, firm, in between). I was on the firmest end of pillowtop, and Scott was pretty much in the middle of the plush section. So we chose a "Plush" mattress and I am so excited!!

Scott is very budget minded, and when he went directly to the "discount" section (my words, not theirs) the sales woman didn't even try and steer us to the more expensive options. I was very impressed. We ended up choosing the Bombay Plush

We weren't able to actually get the mattress last night, but Scott will be picking it up on his way home from work tonight! I cannot wait to go to sleep tonight!

Weekly Update - 35 Weeks

How far along? 35 Weeks

Total Weight Gain: 27 lbs (+4 this week) Somehow I don't believe this, but I guess the scale doesn't lie. Maybe its water weight; my rings stopped fitting yesterday too....

Those suckers are beginning to sneak up on me! I found two (on my BUM!!) this week. They were def not there last week. The one I thought was creeping up on my boobs have responded well to the baby oil/vitamin e that I use, and have almost completely faded. Hopefully the other ones (on my bum!!!) will follow the same path.

Sleep? Ah. Sleep. I feel like I never get enough. I am always tired. But the reality of the situation is that I cannot possibly sleep any more than I do. I am literally in bed around 8:30 every night (9 ish on the weekends) and I sleep until the very last moment in the mornings. Scott and I have been toying with the idea of a new mattress (any recs?) and I hope that helps me sleep deeper.

Best Moment This Week: Maternity pictures!! I'll be sure and let you know when my teaser pics are posted!

Movement: He has sleep and awake patterns, and the sleep ones make me nervous. I feel better when he's moving all the time. I am also not able to tell you what is what. I know where his feet are, but I couldn't tell you if I feel his head or his bum...

Food Cravings: Meatloaf. Mashed potatoes. Pumpkin everything.

Gender: Boy!

Labor Signs: Nope. Although I have started noticing the Braxton Hicks. Nothing consistent, not even daily, but they are there!

Belly Button - In or Out? Still just flat.

What I miss: Beer. I want a beer. Standing up unassisted.

What I am looking forward to: Todd and Colleens wedding next weekend!

Weekly Wisdom: I really wish I had more wit for this section. It's always pretty boring.

Milestones: 35/35! We're down to a month left! Holey buckets, this is sneaking up on me.

New 'Do

I was feeling a little stir crazy regarding my hair. I was thinking about it, and realistically, we will not have room in the budget for professional color after Webster gets here. Sooo... I figured a splurge was in order!

I went to see Brandi at Salon Surreal (who I LOVE by the way!!) and told her "I'm bored! Keep the length, I need new color, but stay away from blondes! Me and blonde do not mix!" And this is what she gave me.

She added some layers (mainly to the front and sides) and a few foils of a red I LOVE to the top, to the sides, and to my bangs. Which I think is a pretty good balance of the dark and the red. It's enough that it gives it some character, but isn't overwhelmingly RED either.
What do you think?

101 in 1001 - Goal #6 Completed!

So this is my first day of the challenge, and I can already cross one off!

#6 - Inspire someone to start their own 101 in 1001

I have never been one to do things halfway, and I am proud to say that this goal is no exception!

I am happy to say that Katie, Kirstin, Jaye and Lisa have started theirs as well! I am adding links to their lists in the Day Zero section of my sidebar, so we can track their progress together!

Thanks girls, I look forward to completing this challenge with you!!
*As time goes on, I will update this with links to other Listmakers.

Milestone: 35/35

Today is a big (scary) day for me. We have reached the 35/35. What does that mean you ask?

Today we have reached 35 weeks pregnant, which means we have 35 days remaining. The countdown has begun! Get it? 35/35?

I'll be adding a poll to my sidebar so you can guess when you think Webster will make his debut! Pin It

35 Weeks!

With baby's head pressing squarely on your bladder, you're probably clocking some quality time in the bathroom. On a similar note, if you're finding it tough to poop, load up on the fiber. Whole grains, veggies, and dried fruits (but not all at once!) should loosen things up.

From now on, baby's growth is mostly in the plumping up department -- though he won't get much longer, he'll put on a pound or more of baby fat before birth. (He's about 15 percent right now and will be about 30 percent by full-term.) His hearing is totally developed (tip: baby responds best to higher pitches), and if he really is a "he," his testes have probably completed their descent.

Your baby doesn't have much room to maneuver now that he's over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew melon). Because it's so snug in your womb, he isn't likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times he kicks should remain about the same. His kidneys are fully developed now, and his liver can process some waste products. Most of his basic physical development is now complete — he'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.

101 in 1001

There is a really neat thing going on right now, called the Day Zero Project. I'm a little behind the times, and my friends Stacey and Jenni are already well into their 1001 days. But hey, better late than never right? So I'm jumping on the bandwagon! I will keep you updated, and blog about each item that is crossed off the list. Italics are for entries in progress, and if an item has been crossed off it has been completed (with a link to the post with completion details!). I will post a link to this post in my side bar so you can see how I'm doing!

The Mission: Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria: Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).

Why 1001 Days? Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as New Year's resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

Weekly Update - 34 weeks

How far along? 34Weeks

Total Weight Gain: +23 total (+1 this week) If everything continues as it has been trending, I should gain just about 30 pounds. Which is pretty ok in my book!

Maternity Clothes? Lensa was kind enough to give me a whole bunch of tops and a couple of pants. It's making me think about what I plan to do with mine when Webster is outside, instead of inside. I think I'll keep my faves and the basics that won't be out of style (jeans, easy tops etc) and pass the rest along! So if you are pregnant, or know someone who is, and you can wear size small, let me know so I can share the wealth!

Stretch Marks? Still nothing. I am hoping that this trend continues until at least when we get our maternity photos taken. I saw what appears to be the beginning of one on my boob. Scott says I'm crazy, but only time will tell!

Sleep? Its actually getting easier to sleep now. Other than getting up to pee every night. I don't know if I'm just getting more used to the belly or what, but I am sleeping just fine.

Best Moment This Week: Talking to Webster's God Parents about being his God Parents. I am happy to announce that Aliza and Jon have both agreed.

Movement: Constant almost. Really strong now. The bump jumps on its own now!

Food Cravings: Ice Cream.

Gender: Boy!

Labor Signs: Nope. Although I have started noticing the Braxton Hicks. Nothing consistent, not even daily, but they are there!

Belly Button - In or Out? Still just flat.

What I miss: Pants with zippers. Being able to go to a store and NOT have to pee. Standing up unassisted.

What I am looking forward to: Maternity photos

Weekly Wisdom: No wisdom. That requires energy.

Milestones: I don't know? I started wearing Scotts clothes (as evidenced in the above photo). Oh! I know! We got our car seats installed! AND we packed our hospital bag!
